PACKING & UNPACKING CAPABILITIES

We’ve listed some important things to keep in mind below and if you require assistance in any way please contact our team.

Packing of Containers

  1. Preparation:
    • Planning: Before packing, it's essential to plan the layout based on the type, size, and weight of the cargo. This may include deciding the order in which items should be loaded and ensuring that weight is evenly distributed.
    • Materials: Selecting appropriate packing materials like pallets, boxes, bubble wrap, and cushioning materials is crucial to protect goods during transit.
  2. Loading Process:
    • Container Inspection: Check the container for damage, cleanliness, and suitability for the cargo. Ensure it’s weatherproof and free from pests.
    • Weight Distribution: Load heavier items on the bottom and toward the center of the container to maintain balance during transport.
    • Securing the Cargo: Utilise straps, airbags, and other securing methods to prevent movement during shipping. This is essential to avoid damage from shifting or impact.
    • Documentation: Ensure that packing lists and shipping documents are accurately completed and accompany the container.
  3. Efficiency:
    • Maximizing Space: Use space efficiently by packing boxes snugly and avoiding empty gaps. Sometimes, custom packing solutions are required for irregularly shaped items.

Unpacking of Containers

  1. Receiving the Container:
    • Preparation: Ensure that the unloading area is ready and equipped with necessary equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) to facilitate the unloading process safely and efficiently.
  2. Unloading Process:
    • Inspection: Check the container for any visible damage before unloading. Compare the condition of the goods with the shipment documentation.
    • Sequential Unloading: Unload items in the order they were loaded to minimize confusion and reduce handling.
    • Handling Special Cargo: If there are fragile or hazardous materials, follow specific guidelines and safety measures during unloading.
  3. Inventory Management:
    • Verification: Compare the unpacked items against the packing list and shipping documents to ensure that all items were received and are in good condition. Note any discrepancies or damage.
    • Sorting and Storing: Organize the goods efficiently for storage, distribution, or further processing as needed.
  4. Documentation:
    • Reports: Document any damaged or missing items and notify relevant parties (such as the supplier or insurer) as necessary.
